Anybody running it - Capitalism 2 - in Win 7 64 bit? If so, how well does it function? BTW, I am somewhat computer phobic.... if it doesn't work "right out of the box", I am not one to make attempts to fix it.
I'm not at all computer phobic, but have the same question -- does it run on Windows 7? My daughter really likes simulation games...
I know this answer is a bit late, but as I joined this website this week and bought Capitalism yesterday I haven't been able to answer before.
I am running Win 7 64 bit and I managed to get the game to run by installing it just normally and then remove the USER ACCOUNT CONTROL in the control panel under user account. And after that I just used the shortcut that was created on the desktop (is that the name? I have Swedish language so a bit off on the computer specific names). Of course I was trying everything I could until I stumbled over the User Account Control thingy except running it from the shortcut, so it might work without turning off the UAC.
If I ever get Win 7 working on my system, this will be good news! :o)
Yea it doesn't run on Windows 7 64 bit , not for me at least
I have this game from it's original disc and it works on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I have Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I can run capitalism 2, but not capitalism plus.

Can someone help me, please?

Did you try compatibility mode? That usually does the trick. Right-click on your shortcut, go to "compatibility", then select Windows XP SP3. I just purchased the games and haven't tried installing them yet on Win 7 64-bit, but I'll post back after I give it a try.

Edit - I just installed both games and they work fine on Win 7 64-bit (Enterprise, the same as Ultimate) without needing to do anything. I'm not sure what's causing your problem.

I do believe that Windows 7 Ultimate has a true Windows XP mode which runs XP in a virtual machine for the purposes of running old software. My Windows Home Premium doesn't have that feature (and I've found the compatability to not help much). For what it's worth though, my Windows 7 64 bit plays Capitalism 2 fine except the mouse isn't as responsive as it feels that it should be.

What you're referring to is a separate program, not something that runs automatically, and I don't have it installed on this system right now. I need to though, I have some old 16-bit games on CD I want to play...
I run Capitalism 2 on a Windows 7 64-bit system and it works flawlessly.

I see. I thought the XP mode feature was automatically included in all copies of Win 7 Ultimate.

I wish (that would be nifty). It's a separate program that you just get access to a free download of if you own Win 7 Ultimate.
Just thought I would post that I have no problems running either Capitalism game under Windows 7 64-bit.

The original Capitalism uses DosBox which is a Dos emulator and deffo works with Win7.

Capitalism II however runs ok, however it has a few issues, but otherwise perfectly playable. (Multiplayer and the jewelry store bug are it's biggest problems)
Exactly what I came here to find out-- thanks to all these old ass posts!
