The Amiga was the greatest gaming platform that ever existed, and Cannon Fodder perhaps its greatest game on it (excepting Speedball 2 and Bubble Bobble, of course). Difficult, but not the hardest game of all time (step forward Cannon Fodder II), utilising level design on a par with puzzlers and requiring reflexes more commonly found in platformers, if the gameplay was a cross between Lemmings and Syndicate, the quirkiness was undoubtedly all Sensible Software.
What's often forgotten is that Cannon Fodder is essentially an anti-war game. Many of its features were misinterpreted by the mainstream British media as disrespectful, when its real intention was not to make light of war but rather to illustrate the ridiculousness of glamourised conflict.
