Although I love Cannon Fodder, this port (presumably the PC version?) is sadly lackluster. Performance is adequate but no more than that, image quality is subpar and the FM music and sound are ridiculously bad compared to the Amiga original, with its brilliant opening tune.
I love the game, but GoG team, can we please have this on Amiga emulation instead?...
I totally agree. Is this the normal PC version, how it always was? If it is, then boy were PC owners stiffed back in the day.
How can it be missing War Has Never Been So Much Fun?! That's the best part!
Totally! :)
Maybe we can have the opening song as an MP3 in additional content... think of people who never played it on the Amiga!
They could just give us Amiga disk files as a downloadable extra. It wouldn't be as cool as having a proper executable version, but I'd guess that most of those who wants to use it already knows how to use WinUAE.

Aren't roms illegal?
Nope, not if you legally own the game.

No. I'm not sure what you mean, really. If you refer to the Kickstart Rom files that are needed for WinUAE, they aren't illegal. You can buy them with Amiga Forever (a fully licensed product), or transfer them from your own Amiga if you own one.
Besides, how people set up WinUAE or another emulator is their own business. And if GOG offered the disk files for download, people could even transfer them to their own Amigas and play them there, if they wanted.
(if you refer to the disk files themselves they're neither Roms or illegal)
I agree about the intro, it doesnt look as polished as the Amiga version did either. That worms style video is annoying too!
If anything the Daisy, Ice, Slice etc is more offensive than the Poppy cover. At least the poppy cover means we will never forget!

Actually ROMs are illegal, regardless of whether you own the game. I'm not against emulation in any way, shape or form, I love it. Just pointing out a very common misconception. ROMs are always illegal, unless the original copyright owner has released them in to the public domain. See also - Abandonware etc.

Incorrect.
ROMs (or dis or tape files) aren't always illegal.
Its illegal to distribute them without copyright holder's consent.
There are many, many instances of the copright holders offering that consent either on a wide scale to anyone who wants, or to specific websites/individuals, or licensing them to particular companies.
This is, after all, what GoG does for a business - obtains a license to distribute games.
Its been done in the past, I bought licensed Atari rom files for MAME from Star Roms while they existed.
I've bought compilations for PC and consoles that are licensed emulation, and downloaded legally public domain games.
All above board.
What you can't do (in the UK) is download a game without that right. Owning an original does not allow you to download someone else's copy. It does allow you to make a backup of your original, but you can't then use that backup unless your original is no longer functional.
All very messy, but not always illegal.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. This issue can get really confusing.
Sorry maybe my post was misleading, too. I agree with what Antiriad2097 said pretty much. It's legal to back your own games up yeah, but it's still illegal to *download* a ROM from the internet even if you DO own the original game.
This doesn't apply to legal emulation packs, old games released for free my the games company, etc etc. What I was saying is, if the original publisher hasn't released it for free it's still illegal to download from the internet (or indeed create and share your own).
EDIT : I've just re-read Antiriad2097's post. Sorry, we're basically saying exactly the same thing!
:D

Yeah, the music for the pc port is really grating. Even the MegaDrive/Genesis port had better music.
Interestingly, in the case of Team 17 games, a website called Dream 17 claim to have permission to legally distribute free Amiga versions of Team 17 games http://www.dream17.info/softography.php

use a separate DOSBox installation and set the music to Roland - sounds a lot better...
