Whats working for everyone else, me I seem to have little luck regardless of what I choose as the game eith becomes a black screen CTD or stops at loading levels.

I think I may have answered your question in another thread. If you ever get a black screen try pressing Alt + Enter. It should go back to normal. Then press Alt + Enter again to go into full screen.
And as for a graphics mode, I fail to see the difference between any of them really. I just keep it at the default one (surface I think?)
