Has anyone else had issues with game crashes on windows 7 (Business 64 bit in my case)?

I can play for several turns, and then it crashes almost at random. Sometimes it's when I click a city, sometimes a unit, sometimes when I try to navigate menus, and sometimes I'm doing nothing. I don't see any pattern to the crashing.

I've tried compatibility modes, running as administrator, and turning off UAC. My next plan is to install Wine on windows (I already use it for Fallout on my Laptop (running Debian)).

It's better to always install games outside program files folder (C:\games or something). Much easier and convenient.

As for Win7 stability problems, only advice I can give is to give the CtP2 Source Code Project a try. Perhaps it's more stable in more modern operating systems.

I wish I had some constructive suggestions. My problem is similar, running Windows 7, 64 Bit, but instead of crashing to desktop, it just freezes, always during an AI Player's turn.
You could try this forum, specific to the game, but the posts look VERY old....

Good Luck!
This game is broken with 64bit Windows, nearly unplayable.
Apolyton patch don't help against this defection.
I have Win7 x64 and this game is running fine. Install the latest version of the K-Lite Codec Pack Full and let it fix your Codecs.
I stopped playing it on my Win 7 X64 Ultimate PC. It doesn't hang or crashes after having deactivated the Videos, but after I reload a saved game the programm swiches me to another (ennemy) Civ, normally America or Great Britain even if the savegame is something like Germany/Frederic. It doesn't happen on every match, so it might be a problem or corruption of only some different civs

Thank God it works properly on my netbook

Can you give us a link to that?

Call to Power 2
I've played through several games with no trouble, but a handful of times
the game gets "stuck"----- the trade animations continue moving, so the game has
not entirely crashed. Yet one of the AI opponents just hangs there and never makes
any decisions or takes any actions. It's impossible to save the game while it is
in this state. Frequently, it is the nation of France that hangs up, if that makes any difference.
Bug? Patch? Workaround?
