Complete guess, but maybe one uses dosbox and the other is a native windows app.

There is some discussion about different versions in the Not the same "voice" version as my original CD? thread. I assume that's the main difference, though I don't own the GOG version (yet) since I already have it on CD.

The voices are decidedly different. You should ask Banjo_oz about the specifics though :)
