Great to hear that this will finally be made available online... a huge thanks to all who share these gems of gaming history (and often wrestle with scanner annoyances to do so). Such creative little bits and pieces deserve to be preserved, not forgotten.

Great news about the AITD2 paper too... there are a few "extras" on GOG that are sadly missing or incomplete so I'm thrilled to hear of the update (for example, most of the Sierra games have pages missing from their manual scans, for example... fortunately, there are well-preserved elsewhere online).

UK voice version is up, btw :)

Banjo_oz: Obviously, the next question is... would you be able to scan your copy of the newspaper? :) I don't think it's ever been scanned online (certainly not at ReplacementDocs) and I hate the thought that any of these great "bits and pieces" of game fiction get lost in time without preservation!

eriktorbjorn: I don't know for sure. I might be able to, but I wouldn't feel comfortable distributing it since I don't hold any rights to it. If someone from GOG were to say, "Why, yes, we do have the right to distribute it, we just haven't been able to find any copy of it," that would be a different matter of course. But I don't even know if that sort of thing ever happens.
We probably do have the rights to distribute the newspaper but, alas, we don't have it ourselves :/

I am thrilled to see my UK copy donation made this actually work... it is GREAT to have the UK version (that I and others remember) available here for others to play and compare with the US release... thanks, JudasIscariot, for doing this and very glad I could be of help to both GOG and fellow gamers.

Oh, and I really hope the newspaper can be scanned and sent to GOG, eriktorbjorn, to get *that* added to the game too, especially as it isn't available anywhere online and the GOG folks don't even have it! :(

Sorry about the delay. I was out of town. The scanner at work wasn't quite as cooperative as I had hoped, but I did manage to get what I hope is a good enough scan of the newspaper. (The poster is too unwieldy for me to scan, so I don't know what to do about that. It's not quite as interesting though, since it's basically the cover art with a lot of creases because they had to fold it up.) Now how do I get it into your hands?

I'm not sure what plan B, C or D is if that's not enough. Plan E would be sending the items to GOG for scanning, and hope they returned it, I guess, but I hope it won't have to come to that. :)

Upload it to Dropbox or something similar and PM me the link :) Thank you for taking the time to do this :)

I can't find any way to send private messages. Does "start conversation" work even when the user is listed as "offline"? If so, you should have the link now.
What about the scan of the newspaper? Has it been added yet? Not according to the game page.

Very interested in this, as well! Hope we get it soon :)

Any news on the newspaper?

I'm really eager to see this get preserved at long last.
I'm curious too, and I haven't even bought the game on GOG since I already own more versions of it on CD than I care to admit. :-)

I did receive a confirmation from Judasiscariot that he got the scans I made and that "everything looks good so far", but that there was "too much going on to do anything with it today" and that he would "take a look tomorrow". That was about a month and a half ago, and I haven't heard anything since.

I haven't tried asking him, though. I hope it's just a lack of time, and not some rights issue.
As till today, till the current sale of this game they are unable or unwilling to add your newspaper scan, I recommend that you upload it at Replacementdocs. If you worry about copyright issues, there are a lot of manuals that GOG and other sites like Steam obtained from there. The whole thing is ridiculous. Alternatively, if possible, post a link here where to download it, and I will do so and upload it at Replacementdocs by myself.
Newspaper added :) Thansk eriktorbjorn :)

Yay! Looks to me like it turned out pretty well, if I may say so. (I've known since a few days after SpiRec's post that JudasIscariot was going to work on getting it approved, but I didn't know any details, and didn't want to jinx it by saying anything.)
It is finally here. A perfect scan. eriktorbjorn - thank you!

At last it was worth buying the game here once again, by not having to find a retail copy of the US version any more.
