The game runs flawlessly in several widescreen resolutions upon replacing the games exe with one tailored for a specific resolution. They can be found via this thread:

I successfully tested the 1360x768, 1600x900 and 1920x1080 ones. It looks amazing!

No problem :)
Do you have to do anything other than starting the right .exe? For some reason it doesn't work for me...

No, the new exe should just be in the game's main folder, eg. GOG.com/Caesar 3/
Those do not work for me. If I replace the c3.exe with the one for 1360x768 then the game gets stuck at loading sounds. Any ideas?

Oh, and this is about Caesar 3.

If I recall correctly, you have to extract dsound.dll to your game folder.

Guys, I'm having some trouble installing Julius to then get widescreen Caesar 3 for Mac through Porting Kit.

Julius is asking for the real Caesar 3 file but I can't add the application image...

Does anyone know where i can find a detailed installation manual? It look so good widescreen! Or if anyone can help?

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers,
James

Does this replace the main game exe or just run it as a patch?
Thanks

Think it replace the original one. But you can simply rename the original to something like c3.original.exe so you don't have to overwrite the file.

However, nowadays I say simply go download Julius or Augustus. It's a remake of the engine and supports modern hardware better. Also have mod support if you use Augustus.

Julius and Augustus are not new games, but two variants of a modern engine for Cæsar Ⅲ. In my opinion they are by far the best way to play this game on current computers.

- Julius (vanilla experience, identical to the original game)
- Augustus (Julius fork including gameplay changes)
