I am playing the DOS version of Caesar II via DOSBox on Windows 10. While I love the game and how it gives you that governor feel about it all, I seem to have a problem. While the sound and voice acting work, the music is absent, leaving a hole in the experience. I tried looking through the game options and it acts like it's there, and yet I hear nothing.

Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, has anyone found a solution to this?

Did you by any chance use the "Launch Settings" shortcut? Or run the sound setup manually from within DOSBox?

Have you played other games that use MIDI music after C2 has been without music? Did they work properly?

Do you have any MIDI related software installed? (VirtualMIDISynth, BassMIDI, etc.)

In any case, use the "Launch Settings" shortcut now, and let us know which options are selected there.

I'll do as you ask and get back to you

Edit: I found the launch settings, and I set the MIDI to Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible. I hear the music now. Thank you very much.

Glad to be of help.

You might want to experiment with other options to get the best music your system can provide. But if that is the only one that works, it is a good enough one.
