When I start the game be it fullscreen or windowed I cannot ALT-TAB, the Escape button doesn't work either and Windows button does not too. Everything start working again as soon as I close the game.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center
Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600
AMD A10-4600M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2300 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) x64-based PC
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB

I tried everything from all compatibility settings to changing the color mode to no avail.

Any idea is welcome, thanks

EDIT: renaming c3.exe to something else like c3_2.exe did the trick. Kinda weird

What an odd trick, thanks for sharing.

Its a known problem, what I do is using the "show/hide contact list" hotkey for my instant messenger, that forces the game to minimize but of course isn't for everyone either.

You can use F6 to go to window mode.

That won't work, because Windows is automatically set to 32-bit colours, so you'd have to change the colour space to 16-bit colours. Trying this will just generate a message similar to "Cannot Set Windowed Mode".

Works for me, just colors in Caesar window are screwed up, until i return to full screen or switch desktop to 16-bit. But as alternative for alt-tab it works for me.
