Hi folks!

I've played for a few hours tonight and haven't been able to get a single housing plot to level up beyond a large hovel, and the last couple maps I've played they haven't leveled up past large tent. I don't get it - I've put in place decent desirability, have housing in 9x9 blocks with no intersections so all my service people are getting to all houses, have TONS of markets and the overlay says food supply is stable. Fountain water reaching all dwellings, perfect hospital coverage, gardens all over the place, temples reaching everyone and 2 types of food in plenty. What the actual heck? There must be something I'm missing. I've never been able to get housing to upgrade beyond a large casa, either, despite putting all the needs in place. I rage quit a minute ago and need ideas.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, you stated a couple of things that concern me. Tons of markets? Too many markets can work against you in this game, because if I'm not mistaken market buyers will prioritize food, so with not enough food to go around to fully stock a lot of markets quickly enough, the market buyers might not get round to buying pottery and subsequent luxury items. (Not sure about that though). Also, hospital coverage? That's an expensive structure that you only need once you get to villas. It's only needed beyond small villas.

But not going beyond large tents is what happens if they only have water access. Are you certain the actual market trader walks past the houses in question, as well as the priests? You can use the religion overlay to check, and click on the houses to see if they have food stored.

Can you upload a screenshot of the troublesome block in question? I'd like to see what you mean by 'no intersections' Or better yet, can you upload a save file using something like file.io?

You can also double check that you do in fact satisfy the requirements : http://www.geocities.ws/caesar_jan/housinglevels.html

Btw, are you perhaps a first time player? In that case, just to eliminate one possibility, do you understand how the walker system works in this game?
