I've seen other posts on this, and have read through instructions on how to schedule Caesar III as a task. I've done that, but it doesn't start the program; I can see a brief flicker of a 'window' appearing and disappearing, and the status in the task scheduler says it has run correctly, but Caesar III doesn't start up.

I have tried it both with a new folder I called 'local', using "local\Caesar III privs" as the task name. I've tried it without putting it in a separate folder, with just "c3" as the task name. I made sure the "start in" directory in the shortcut I created had the "c:\games\Caesar 3\" value in it, and have checked that that is the correct value (actually I copied and pasted that from the shortcut that does the UAC prompt each time).

My Triggers are empty; my actions say to run this program. My conditions are empty, and my settings indicate to run the task on demand.

I don't know where else to look for problems. Is there something like a log file somewhere?
further information. I managed to enable the Task Scheduler history; the Caesar III task is running, and saying it completed, but I don't see anything on the screen. Does Task Scheduler handle programs with game graphics like this? Has someone else done this successfully?

I also tried uninstalling Caesar III, then reinstalling it under "My Documents" within the (administrator) account I am using on this machine. The icon still has the shield, and the program still prompts for permission to run the program. I had read somewhere that UAC was concerned because the program was installed in a Program Files kind of place, but evidently installing it in a different place doesn't solve the problem.

Anyone have other suggestions?
