I know that every one can take the DOS files of the game and run it in a DOSBOX. But if the GOG create a package with everything for MAC and Linux it could be so much easier.

Are you suggesting that GOG just conjure up a nonexistant build, or are you suggesting they use Wine or something?

Wine? Caesar II is the DOS version isn't it? Anyway it's Activision.

Well, if it's the DOS version, then why the rigmarole anyway? Just unpack the installer and place the files as you like? :p

I guess OP is very aware that he can make it work on other OS's with the windows only installer. He is asking for GOG to officially support those other systems, since it is running on dosbox either way, so it doesn't make a difference. OP believes it will be easier and more practical. It will also help a buch of less tech savvy people.

It is an old demand from non Windows users on GOG.

I suppose. The issue more remains on the publishers and developers; not GOG. Releasing a Linux/Mac build would create an implied obligation to not only support those builds for a time, but to also to other platforms as well.

(And with GOG backing Linux Mint/Ubuntu, a problem is made in that they are somewhat distant from upstream so you often end up with old/invalid build tools.)
