Problem from Broken Sword - II:
I had been frustrated that the solution that occurred to me had not worked and went online to verify that it was correct.
According to the walkthroughs I've referenced I'm supposed to get the hornets to attack the stuntman, but this solution does not work on my game.
I've been stuck on the "Treasure Island" set unable to get the stuntman to get attacked by the hornets.
I've given him the pancake with the syrup and have thrown the bun into the bush multiple times without any success.
Is my save messed up somehow or did I do something to break the sequence?
FIXED:
It turns out that if you don't proceed in that location the way the game wants, that you can mess things up.

This guy had the same problem. I followed the solution and sequence posted by one person in that thread and it worked fine now.
http://www.thediscworld.co.uk/bs2prob.htm.
This other site seems to have solutions to other potential logic issues in the game as well.
I didn't expect these games to have these kinds of bugs. Anyway, this should serve as a warning to all to make frequent saves. If I hadn't had multiple saves, I probably would've had to waste time starting the game from a much earlier location.

I haven't looked at exactly what the game is doing at that point, but I did replay the scene for the first time in ages, and I had to throw several buns at the bush before anything happened. Maybe it's a random chance?
I ran into this problem as well, and from what I was able to deduct from it happening - it seems it happens *if* you pick up a second pancake and/or drip syrup on it and try to give it to Hawkins.
If only having 1 pancake, giving it to him - then you should be fine, so don't pick up more pancakes after the first one.
Also a spoiler warning but.....
There was also a bug with the boar on the Zombie Island.
Where if you didn't jump fast enough, the boar wouldn't make a new path for you. Ran into that as well and had to replay a part of the game to get back.

I just tried picking up and putting syrup on a second pancake, after giving the first to the stuntman. I didn't have any problems with the hornets, though I did have to throw two buns before it worked. (I looked at a walkthrough a while ago, which basically said if it doesn't work, try again. That's why I figured it there may be some randomness to it.)
Of course, it's still possible that it's possible to get it into some state where it's impossible to solve the puzzle,. One example of that kind of bug was the "pyramid bug", which is described on Revolution's Technical support page. (ScummVM works around that bug, and a few other less serious ones.) Though it would help a lot to know exactly how to reproduce it.

From what I remember, the boar just provides a handy shortcut through the maze. I didn't know about it the first time I played the game, and I was still able to get to the end.

No amount of "buns" help agitate the hornets enough. My only choice was to reload and luckily I had one just prior to handing the pancake (cause I sort of expected what would happen with the stunt man :) )

The boar makes the path you have to follow. There is no way to progress if you don't get that path open.

Even without that exit, there should still be one to the right side of the room, leading to the room with the rock needle.
Take the top exit from there.
Take the top right exit. (To the room with the lair)
Take the middle left exit. (The topmost you can reach from there.)
Take the bottom left exit.
Take the middle right exit. (The topmost you can reach from there.)
Take the middle right exit. (This is the room with the lair again. It's hard to see, but there are three exits to the right here, not two.)
Take the middle right exit. (The only right exit you can reach from there.)
At least, that works for me. Though I had to look at this site for the exact directions.
