Hi,

I have BS:DC, and I'm running it on a Lenovo S10-2 netboook. So far, my game experience has been very smooth, but I have encountered an error which produces a BSOD and restarts the machine, every time. While the BSOD disappears too fast to read, this is the error code windows xp gives when it reappears;

BCCode : 1000007f BCP1 : 0000000D BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 768_1

The problem occurs in the opening "Nico in Paris" section of the game. After finding her way past two locked door puzzles, she must get hold of a shell-casing to prop a cross-shaped lever open. This casing is underneath the remains of an old boat. The crash occurs when clicking on the boat to push it over, about half-way through the animation.

I hope you can help, or perhaps send a save file just after this point - I haven't been able to find anyone else experiencing similar problems with the game.

Thanks
Stuart

Yeah, I also received the blue screen in windows vista ultimate 32-bit on a desktop. I can't even launch the game. I think this version still has some serious bugs. I'll probably buy the Steam release.

I'm not sure what to suggest regarding the BSOD/Crash. Could be a corrupt file in your install, a reinstall of the game might fix that.

In any case i attached a savegame for you. That save was made right after Nico topples the old boat and picks up the shell case.

To get it, right click on the attachment, choose 'Save target as' and save it on your desktop.

The file is named BS1SAVE.jpg, once you have it in your desktop you'll have to rename it to BS1SAVE.xxx where xxx is 001 or 002 or 003, depending on how many saves you already have on your folder. This workaround of renaming the file is because there's no way to attach files that aren't pics on the boards.

After that hopefully its just a matter of moving the file from your desktop to BS1's savegame folder.

I hope it works.

Thanks Namur, you're a legend. I'll give it a try and see how I get on.

I should have mentioned; first thing I did was download it afresh and reinstall in case the files were corrupt. Didn't seem to work. Hopefully this problem is just a one-off, aside from the guy getting a BSOD on vista.

Works a treat! Many thanks.

You're welcome ;)
Thanks for the file Namur!

I'm having the exact same problem, running XP on EEEPC netbook...just as I click on the boat I get a blue screen error message and the system restarts.

Hopefully it only happens once in the game!

Cheers

You're welcome.

And yes, let's hope the problem only happens in that one spot.

Happy Holidays ;)
I have also experienced the same issue.

Updated my video drivers & DirectX - still happens. I am on Windows XP, SP3, video card is ATI Radeon X800 GTO (pretty outdated, I know). The installer integrity check passed with no issues, although while downloading the game, I stopped the download for a moment, and later resumed (using Firefox DownThemAll Manager).

The save file you provided helped, but I would still like to see the sequence of the falling skiff.

Thanks,
Alex.
Same problem here too - it's crashed my system three times now at the exact same spot. Tried to reinstall game, but same problem.

It's definitely a bug in the game.

Anyone have any solutions to this, or another saved file I can use? (Namur's link isn't working anymore unfortunately).

Thanks.

The save file should work it's just that the boards don't allow to attach anything other than pictures, so you'll have to right click on the attachment and save the file to your desktop as a picture and then rename the file to BS1SAVE.xxx where xxx is 001 or 002 or 003, depending on how many saves you already have on your save folder. After that just place the savefile in the saves folder.

You are an absolute STUD. Wasn't thinking I could just save the file as a picture and then go from there. Works perfectly!!!

Thanks SO much. I'd just about given up ever being able to play this game. You made my weekend :)
