Hello All,
So, I've been having some audio trouble with BS4. The game plays fine, but every once in a while (seemingly sporadically), the characters will cut off in the middle of their current speech, but immediately pick back up and speak fine for the next line. I can still follow along with the subtitles, but it can be annoying. I was wondering if anyone had any advice?

I am using Windows 7 on a quadcore, but have done some fiddling. I changed the sound options in the compat.ini, as suggested elsewhere, and I also change the affinity when ingame. I have tried using the option marked "m_uiUseExtraProcessors", to see if that would help.

Has anyone encountered this?

I once had a similar problem, it could be the same thing,
after you edited the compat.ini did you run the game with the
-compat=on
option after the shortcut or in a command-line ?
just editing the INI isn't really enough, you need to tell the game to use the INI.

No, I didn't, and this is the first of heard of this. Can you provide a link to something that confirms this? None of the other posts (on this forum or around the web) say anything about an extra argument...

well my source is the original Broken sword 4 DVD, the original DVD once installed it gives 2 shortcuts, the shortcuts are
Play Broken Sword - The Angel of Death
Play Broken Sword - The Angel of Death (Sound Compatibility Mode)
the sound compatibility shortcut is the same as the normal but with the line
-compat-on at the end of it as shown in the attached picture

also i have taken a youtube video, one with and one without compat mode turned on

I'm gonna double check, but the -compat-on (not -compat=on) seems to work, for anyone that might experience this problem in the future.

I guess the command is different from the DVD to the GOG version's so that's why the command is different but that doesn't matter, its good news that you solved the problem.

I know that may this isn't the right place to put my question, but since it's sound related... do anyone can confirm that the BS4 GoG version doesn't have the voice actors speeches? I had the DVD version and it were was hilarious hearing George's fail jokes. Now it'll be very frustrating playing this game without his voice.
