Okay, I'm an adventure junkie, but I'm fairly new to the genre, so I've never played the first Broken Sword. Will BS2 be incomprehensible without having played the first one, or should I be fine without it? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
It won't be incomprehensible at all. The stories are completely independent. The only thing that carries over is George's relationship with Nicole, but that doesn't mean anything regarding the plot context, and you'll pick up on it right at the start of BS2, so go for it ;)
