Running Xubuntu 14.04, which should be supported as suggested by GOG, however it doesn't run. When the file is executed a terminal window pops up then closes, nothing else happens.

BS1 Directors cut worked perfectly, just unfortunate that this isn't working.

Has anyone got any suggestions about what might be wrong?

try launching it from the terminal, you will see all of the output before the window closes. if there is an error, it should tell you there.
