As the title says, I want to start BS 1 in the next few days and I do not know which version should I play. What would you suggest?

Both. Yeah, really.

It's a matter of taste, as always. There's content mutual exclusive to both versions, the director's cut doesn't include everything from the original and vice versa. I tell you what I did. I chose the original first, because it includes the classic intro, that lots of people love and as I've never played BS before I wanted to get the original feeling which made the game famous. After I've finished the game, I immediately started the Director's cut. It starts different and you get the nice extra story that is added. The original parts are very similar, so you can play them through very quickly, as you still know all the puzzles. This way you get both, the original feeling and content, plus the add-ons of the director's cut. This works very well, because the Director's cut adds rather a different perspective than just additional content to the original scenes, which you can rush through.
Thanks for the thorough explanation.
Agreed with the previous poster. I always tell people to play the original version of BS1 first, then play the Director's Cut version if you feel inclined. The DC version has spruced-up graphics and another storyline involving Nico's backstory (which is okay, but doesn't add or detract from the main story), but it also eliminates a lot of hotspots, dialogue sequences, cutscenes, deaths, and other small portions of the original game. I feel as if Revolution bastardized the original version for the sake of Nico's backstory, which I felt was unnecessary. The original game was great based upon it's own merits. When you move on to BS2 however, I highly recommend the DC version.
