I have a general question about the play through of Broken Sword I. I'm a veteran of the game, and have played it through several times since the late 1990's when it was first released. I thought I'd throw this question out to the four here and see if we can reach some kind of a consensus. Here goes...
When George returns from Ireland, I believe most players next stop is eventually getting him to the hospital so he can talk to Marquet. Afterwards, I think most people get the tripod from the museum (well, Nico gets it, but it winds up in George's possession. My question is this...After obtaining the Tripod, the game can basically go in two non-linear directions. You can either go to Spain, to the de Vasconcellos estate, or you can go to Syria. In terms of continuity, which country do you veteran players visit first? I've always typically gone to Spain first, as that is kinda where the game's dialogue directs you. But it kinda seems like a lot of players I've talked to (a majority, I think) actually visit Syria first before going to Spain. I am just throwing this question out there to see what you guys do and to have a general discussion.

Depends on my mood and attitude. I pick one or the other route individually every time I re-play BS1 (which I usually do at least once a year). As far as I remember, this doesn't really alter the slightest dialogue line, so there's really little difference for me.
Yeah, the dialogue doesn't change...If you go to Spain first, you obviously get the Communion chalice from the de Vasconcellos', so that can actually lead to some pretty funny dialogue sequences in Syria...Especially when you show it to Duane and Pearl Henderson. If you go to Syria, first, you'll wind up with the looking glass. I don't remember any unique dialogue sequences with that in Spain, so I guess, if you like the dialogue, you should go to Spain first. I've always felt that, while playing the game and the way the plot presents itself, it makes more logical sense to go to Spain before Syria
