I had a problem in Windows 8 the other day (Microsoft Surface Pro tablet), but a re-install where I kept my saves when asked fixed it.
Anyway, I was playing Braveland a few days back when the screen glitched, blacked out, and eventually came back at a very low resolution. I could not figure out any way to make the game conform to the computer's resolution. Reinstalling didn't take long for a 200MB game, and luckily I still had the installer, but that was literally the only thing I could get to work. Run as admin, compatibility modes, disable/enable display scaling, -w or -window in command line... none of that helped, and there does not seem to be any config file I could find.
Any alternate solution, or just a word to the developers to make the game more readily support resolution changes and windowed mode would probably help someone at some point.
I don't know if this is a common problem that I had, but I was able to find at least one other example with an alleged solution that looked Steam-specific as far as I could tell.
