I see a bunch of old posts from 2014-ish about this problem, but I've tried those fixes (compatibility mode, unplugging and replugging keyboard), but they don't work for me.

When I switch input to the controller in the game, neither of my controllers (Logitech F710, Xbox Series X w/ microsoft wireless usb adapter) will register button presses to continue. My only way out of the menu is to switch it back to KBM.

i tried a few things today and the only thing that worked for me (steam controller, xbox 360 controller and 8bitdo sn30 pro+) was unplugging my keyboard/mouse (both run on a single wireless receiver from logitech).

just start up the game, make sure your gamepad is connected, unplug and replug keyboard/mouse, that's it. gamepad works...
