SkinnyBiscuit76: I don't know if you're aware of this but they're both on Steam. I already own the Steam release of Xenus 2. I personally don't like Xenus 2, overall it's WILDLY inferior to Boiling Point. An extremely dumbed down sequel. But a DRM-free release of it on GOG certainly wouldn't hurt its case, as it's already highly bugged so it would certainly benefit from having Securom gutted out of it if nothing else. I'm sure in that case it would definitely get more attention from modders, 'cause it sure isn't getting much attention on Steam. I would love to see the modding community go nuts with it.
SCPM: I have them both from GamersGate, but they have especially bad limited installations DRM. The press release for the Boiling Point re-release mentions that the current dev team, Big Boat, have added fixes to this version, so I am hoping for fixes (and a proper DRM-free release) for the later games as well.

I feel like Big Boat ruined this re-release of Boiling Point. Slapping unofficial patches to digital versions of retro games is almost always a terrible move. My physical unpatched copy of Boiling Point works flawlessly on Windows 10, so why did we need Big Boat to fiddle with the game's code when the game already runs ok right out of the box? This kind of meddling ruins the original identity of the game without adding anything meaningful. Several official patches by Deep Shadows already existed, so why didn't Big Boat just apply those instead? This re-release isn't fair to Deep Shadows' original vision of the game.
As far as I'm concerned, the Steam versions of Xenus 2 and The Precursors are better re-releases than this version of Boiling Point despite their DRM purely because of the fact that they don't include fan patches. If I had to choose between playing the authentic version of a game with Securom DRM or playing a DRM free version of the same game with fan patches pre-installed, I would always choose the former in a heartbeat. So you really shouldn't be complaining about DRM, because there are FAR worse ways to experience games, i.e. remakes, remasters, and, in this case, fan patches, AKA "remixes/mods".
This re-release of Boiling Point is the kind of sh*t I never asked for and never wanted. Unless there's an easy way to remove the fan patches, I'd go as far to call this re-release a lost cause. A real shame considering Boiling Point is such a hidden gem.
