In GOG's "Throwback Thursday with new games from Throwback Entertainment" thread that announced the game's release on GOG, I noticed these two posts by Huff and Gudadantza related to a bug fix for Bloodwych.
I'm archiving them here so that anyone who encounters this problem can easily access the solution.

Huff posted:
"I wonder if Bloodwych has the game breaking bug fixed. (there is a solution here if not

Gudadantza posted in response:
"Into the game folder there is a WBFIX.EXE, apparenly it is the same file downloadable from PcGamingWiki. I guess it is the executable to use in the savegame file if the bug is present."

The "Bloodwych 'Welcome Back' fix" found at the PCGamingWiki site HERE describes itself as follows:
About This File
Save fix for Bloodwych needed to get past the game-breaking "Welcome Back" bug in The Keep (a stairs tile is missing).
Run this program in DOSBox on modern systems. Specify the program name followed by the affected save file, e.g. to fix save slot 5 use the command WBFIX.EXE BWYSAVE.5
This package has been updated to include CWSDPMI.EXE (required by WBFIX).
The fix can be found here: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/946-bloodwych-welcome-back-fix
