As the title states, I installed the games via Galaxy and neither Bloodrayne 1 or 2 have the GOG style desktop icons that the classic versions had. Maybe it's a Galaxy issue, and it's not a huge deal but I haven't seen it mentioned here.
Are you sure you haven't just missed to tick the option for creating a shortcut on the desktop when installing the game(s)? Have you ticked the "Create shortcut on desktop" box under "Settings > Installing, updating" too?

The shortcuts were created no problem, the issue is just that they are missing the desktop icons that the classic versions had.

That could be a problem with the Thumbnail Cache on WIndows not updating correctly. I had this issue a couple times too some time ago. After cleaning the cache and restarting Windows it was usually working again.

Cleaned the cache, and even reinstalled the game, no change. Looking in the game folder it would appear that those icon files were just not included in the download itself. I could check if the stand alone installer versions include it but I just don't feel like downloading a game for the 3rd time today.

Yep it's included. The symbol file is named "goggame-1598751450.ico".

Very strange, but yeah, it's just missing from mine.

Edit: I should note that I've already tried to verify the install.

Yup. I have the same problem. Missing that .ico file
Yep, same for both BR 1 and 2. The .ICO files are missing even after a verify/repair.
