i remember that blood had 2 versions, the cd audio soundtrack (which was ok but not as great as the midi tracks) and the MIDI soundtrack (or was it only in the shareware?)

yes, add the -nocd switch to the Blood.exe line of your dosboxBlood_single.conf file.
