Hey guys, first creation of a topic post for me on this forum i guess.
Anyways i know blood is an old game just like doom and duke, etc.
im currently using graphic mode setup to make changes to resolutions, etc.
anyways when i seem to run it on my laptop or my computer at my mums place it seems to have less pixelation and they use resolutions 1680x1050 and original (dunno what it exactly means by that unless it means your computers default res or the games 320x200) so i tried lowering the graphic resolution and it still seems a bit pixelated than normal, now i know games are supposed to be pixelated i mean these resolutions didnt exist back then but im just wondering if everyone else has it like this
so im posting 3 screenshots, 1 of laptop resolution 1360x768 (there was no 1366x768), 1 of the computer running it at 1280x720 in windowed mode on the computer, and finally running it full screen on 1920x1080

So now 2nd topic, sound. The sound works great with just 1 minor problem. Adjusting the values in the options menu seems to do nothing, just wondering is there a fix for it?

And finally the 3rd issue, when i started playing blood the mouse felt chunky a bit, unresponsive you had to move it alot to get it to respond and even then it kinda wasnt smooth, i got a small fix from someone on another site which they call BMOUSE so you using the launch settings to change to keyboard and external and it seems to fix it, mouse seems smoother but i do get a bit of that issue from time to time. Was wondering if there was a more permanent solution to this problem

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Item 1: From your screenshots, it looks like you are just scaling lower rez renderings (320x200) up to a bigger window. So you will get that pixelation blood_laptop.jpg looks like it is set to a higher rez, probably 1024x768. You can set your screen rez in your Blood.cfg file.

Look for the lines:

ScreenMode = 1
ScreenWidth = 800
ScreenHeight = 600

you can change the Width and Height settings to something like:

ScreenWidth = 1280
ScreenHeight = 1024

Keep in mind that Blood is generally limited to 4:3 ratio rezolutions

Item 2: Sound seems to be an intermittent thing and largely has to do with the build of DOSBox you are using. If you haven't done, I'd try one of the ykwong builds. Stixsmaster had a fairly decent write up on how to switch out the default DOSBox that came with GoG's Blood distro. This will also have some info about what to do for Item 1.

Item 3, BMouse: I haven't seen better mouse look options, but then I haven't been actively looking for things. Generally this would require an update to the engine itself, so you might checkout BloodCM. It's not a perfect port, but it's pretty good.

Thanks for the quick reply, but if what your saying is true though wouldnt the 1920x1080 res in the graphic settings be pretty much useless? i mean, whenever i do switch to a different resolution in the game, it actually does show less of the weapon
I've also encountered a problem with an enemy in episode 2, i cannot for the life of me get rid of the hand once it grabs hold of you. i keep pressing the use key like the wiki says but it never comes off

Here's my configuration, I find Blood looks best with dosbox fullresolution set to 'original', blood set to '640x400' and with 'rgb2x forced' as the scaler.

DOSBox config
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\DOSBox\dosbox-0.74.conf

Blood-specific settings
C:\DOSBox\dosbox-blood.conf

BLOOD.CFG file
C:\DOSBox\Games\Blood\BLOOD.CFG

Blood shortcut
c:\dosbox\dosbox.exe "games\blood\blood.exe" -userconf -conf "dosbox-blood.conf" -noconsole
