comtamfan: I did have one issue recently, though. When I tried running Blood, I selected selected an option and waited for it to load. It went to the loading screen, and before it could show the demo, the game crashed (I think) and closed out. I tried restarting my computer, but it didn't help. I also tried re-installing Blood in a different directory and running it vanilla, and it worked.
apology for the delay, I usually check the posts I made every 2 weeks.

The problem you has it I think can be for a modification on your instalation. To solve this you need a "CLEAN" Instalation of your Game.

1.- backup your save games
2.- Uninstall it, Check it there is a remanent archive(delete it if exist).
3.- Install it again.
4.- Install the patch.
6.- Copy your save games.

Recomendation:

if you have the old installer "setup_one_unit_whole_blood.exe" I recommended to you download the newest version
"setup_one_unit_whole_blood_2.0.0.21.exe", only go to your gog adcount and download it again.

Teoricaly should fix the problem. :)

comtamfan: EDIT: A quick question... Is there any way to get this to work alongside BMOUSE?
apparently already on gog has talked about that, and gives the solution DustyStyx but only in this case is little diferent instead modify "dosboxBlood-single.conf" you need modify the "OUWB.BAT"

Ok we go Step by Step

1.- go where you installed the game and find "OUWB.BAT"
2.- Right click, and go to "edit"
3.- localize an replace the next lines (all of them) "BLOOD.EXE" to "BMOUSE.EXE LAUNCH BLOOD.EXE"
and "CRYPTIC.EXE" to "BMOUSE.EXE LAUNCH CRYPTIC.EXE"
5.- then save it
6.- and find on your directory "Blood.cfg"
7.- find the next line "ExternalFilename = "EXTERNAL.EXE" to ExternalFilename = "BMOUSE.EXE"
8.- remember to press "U" to activate Mouse look.

I have never Use it, I`m a completely "old" Gamer I usually play this classic Whit "Keyboard only" like other games before half-life. but I think can help you whit this. :D

comment it any further questions, I will put more attention to this post.
regards

as you already know everyone have different tastes, there are players who prefer the CDA music, and others the midi music (I'm one of them), or just do not like and want to disable it (but they can`t). the menu technically do the following.

- Music CDA (load in dosbox the Iso image)
- Midi Music (iso image does not load)
- No music (load an iso image with a dummy sound)

in short, gives functionality to select between two sountracks or the deactivation of music. without change nothing.
that's all

anything else I am to serve. see ya

:)
Thx, just started playing Blood and I just couldn´t find a way to turn down the music on one of the levels. Tried to turn it off by changing the mount in one of the config files that another tread on this forum suggested but that didn´t work. Just tried you patch and finally the music is gone=).
OK, thank you for the response, but I have another question...what about the Cryptic Passage expansion ? When I launch it from Start menu, it do not give me the choice of music selection like when I launch original Blood...so, is this patch working also on Cryptic Passage ?

you welcome, for that I am.

the menu contains both games, use the blood shortcut instead criptic pasage. you will see 7 options in the menu, they are.

1 to 3 are for the original blood

1.- Run blood whit cd music
2.- Run blood whit midi soundtrack
3.- Run blood whiout music "Personally I don`t like this option ;)"

Options 4 to 6 are for criptic pasage

4.- Run Cryptic pasage whit cd music
5.- Run Cryptic pasage whit midi soundtrack
6.- Run Cryptic pasage whiout music

and finally 7 to close the menu.

if you have any other questions, just write,
regards

Ou, what a shame on me... :-/ I do not know how I missed that really, sorry for that, and thanks for answer, I really appreciate your willingness... :-)
When trying to install to D:\Games\Blood it wouldn't install because it said there wasn't enough disk space. I have 3.65TB free.

try to run the program in administrator mode, if it does not work so try to copy the content of your blood folder to a new folder on your desktop and install it there. then replace the original whit the patched version.

let me know if it worked, please

PS: I accept I`m envy you, I`ve never had a disk greater than 800gb. Xp

I have an alternate solution about the music but not about the volume that hasn't been mentioned anywhere. So it is only semi related as it doesn't have a direct effect on the volume but to changing, or removing it to be anything you want.

So not directly volume but it works never the less.

1. Each track is an audio file named numerically i.e blood02, blood03, blood04 etc. in ogg format.
you can listen to each track to confirm it is so. With VLC player it takes up VLC players icon and opens with the track just like any other music. Others players I don't know. Windows media etc.

2. I made a folder called "removed music" (you can name it whatever you want so you remember) and dropped them all in there. Cut and Paste

3. Started Blood up like normal, no script, and all the music was indeed gone. (Which is what I wanted.)

4. If you keep the files names and file format the same you can put whatever audio track you want in game. i.e name of song will be blood02, blood03 etc. in ogg format. blood02 through 09

5. To revert it back to original music you can copy them back into the directory, one directory up, where they were cut and paste from.

6. The volume will still be blaring. So you can update the dosbox to correct that.

There's always the winamp/Windows Media player solution also :)
(After removal.)

I never heard blood with the music way back when. It's way too heavy and creeps me out. I always saw it as an "evil dead" campy of hokey thing. The music does not sit well with me.

Anyway just FYI if you don't use it.
