So mixed feelings so far.

The good news: the game launches fine, with cutscenes and music, and seems faster than my own custom configuration.

The bad news: the CD Music tracks only play once and then stop, and it does not have a selection screen for Cryptic Passage like Shadow Warrior does for its expansions. It does not seem to provide me with any easy way of launching it.

The latter is actually pretty bad. I honestly was expecting better than this. I am using the Linux tarball.

I am considering to get the game for GNU/Linux if there is proper mouse look support. Is there? I found a detailed guide for DOSBox port of Blood on Steam Forums. It looks worth to check for music and expansions.

Not more than would normally be true for Blood, but there is some information on mouselook in this forum thread:
http://forums.transfusion-game.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2025&start=15
So apparently one can launch Cryptic Passage by supplying the addon parameter to the launch script:
-s, --start - start Blood - One Unit Whole Blood
-c, --client - start Blood - One Unit Whole Blood client
-r, --server - start Blood - One Unit Whole Blood server
-t, --settings - start Blood - One Unit Whole Blood settings
-a, --addon - start Blood - One Unit Whole Blood addon
-v, --version - show version of this package
It could still be much better exposed though. And I still have the problem of the music not looping right.

At any rate, I have gone to the trouble of creating two distinct custom launchers for the GOG.com version. One is a command-line prompt using BASH and the other is a graphical launcher using Zenity.

I can't help but feel that I have been doing a lot of their own work for them though.

Welcome to the club.
The music not looping is already a problem on windows dosbox.
There's a special version of dosbox to fix that (referenced in the steam link above) but I don't know if this was ever compiled for linux or where the sources are available (as they should, dosbox being open sourced).
You could also try the YKHWong SVN build. He tends to keep things up to date and the CD looping bug was years ago at this point, he's probably included it on his Linux build.
Yeah, the problem here is DOSBox really needs a new stable build, 0.74 is already 5 years old, but the DOSBox devs/mods seem to just be too lazy to make a new release. If you try to bring it up on the DOSBox forums (on VOGONS), they just shoot it down with a "When Its Done", which, to me, simply means never.
No. Never means never.
