So, I switched from my old Dell XPS with Windows Vista and an ATI card to a new custom built machine with Windoes 8 and a GeForce...and now I'm having performance issues I never had before.

At anything over the 320 x 200 res, the HUD flickers when close to a wall and the game lags considerably. And despite this being the default, it keeps picking a higher res on bootup anyway, forcing me to go to options and change it each time, even after messing with the Graphic Settings. Any ideas on how to fix this?
If you're using resolutions above 320x200, this should reduce flicker:

1. Open dosboxBlood.conf in notepad and change
machine to vesa_nolfb

For good performance/quality, I recommend using 640x400 mode

2. Open BLOOD.CFG and change
ScreenWidth/Height to 640 and 400

Okay, that worked out quite a bit! But now I'm left with one last problem; the screen is currently at windowed size, even at full screen. Any way to fix tihs?

Okay, set it back to overlay; screen works properly now, and no hit to the performance. So, problem solves!

Sorry about that! ;-)

Overlay should be faster and supports hardware scaling, but it seems to make the colors darker.
