For some reason the stone gargoyle wont die at the end of episode 1 no matter how many times I shoot him. I suspect this might be a bug but I don't know how to fix it. Would like some help please :)

Keep running backwards and firing. Collect extra ammo on the stage. That guy might swallow full Tommy bullet supply and still ask for more. They don't give you the best weapon vs. stone gargoyles in episode one unfortunately, so you'll just have to shoot him a lot.

I emptied 30 rockets into him with weapon 5 (napalm launcher) and 500 tommy gun bullets, 100 shotgun shells and lots of TNT but he still didn't die. He was definitely invulnerable.

I found a solution though: I let myself die so the map restarted. Unfortunately this removed all my weapons but the map contains a tommy gun with ~ 300 bullets and a sawed off shotgun. I grabbed the jump boots and used them to reach the secret akimbo (dual weapon) powerup behind the boss and then empied my tommy gun and sawed off shotgun on the gargoyle. He died in less than 1 minute this time. He really was bugged the first time. So if this happens to you, just restart the map :)

Keep firing while strafing in a circle motion so he keeps firing and missing.

This guy swallowed my soul and all my bullets.

I think I will have to use a cheat code to see if I'm getting the same bug, he does seem like the toughest bastard of a gargoyle I ever had to fight, that's for sure.

Well, perhaps a little cheap method, but if you crouch, he cannot hit you in any way and you can stab/shoot/etc. him to death peacefully.

I had the EXACT same experience, and I'm 100% convinced it is a glitch.

I unloaded EVERYTHING I had into that gargoyle - 650+ machine gun rounds, 60+ shotgun rounds, flares, rockets, dynamite - EVERYTHING - until I was down to my pitchfork, and it was still standing. It's clearly a bug. I then resorted to cheats and proceeded to stand in front of it and just hurl endless dynamite sticks in its face, and it still wouldn't go down.

The voodoo doll is what finally bypassed the bug and made that monster die.

Fortunately, when I fought the spider boss in the next episode, it went down after a dozen or so rockets like it's supposed to.

Right yeah I'm guessing this must be a glitch, as I'm having the same problem.

I'm now literally pitchforking the b*****d after having used literally EVERY piece of ammunition I had, and I had a ton.

Highly irritating, especially as I didn't want to reload the level.

edit: Ok I just reloaded the level and started from scratch, and the ****er is still not going down. Something is clearly wrong here. I kill everything, go to get the akimbo power up, proceed to shoot literally everything I have at the guy and it still simply ISN'T DYING. Anyone got a fix?
