Does anybody know the best way to reconfigure blood to use the old adlib style music instead on general midi?
I switched from cd-music to midi but would like to change to old style. That's how I remember it when playing it in the 90's.

Thanks,

There are 3 ways

1. Add the -nocd switch to the execution line in your dosboxBlood_single.conf file.
ie: Blood.exe -nocd
This will tell Blood to not play the CD audio tracks.

2. In the same file, dosboxBlood_single.conf, edit the line that reads:
imgmount D game.ins -t iso
and change it to:
imgmount D game.gog -t iso
This tells DOSBox to mount the iso file directly and skips over the CUE sheet
Note: if you have other music files in ogg format you want to have playing in the background, you can swap out the original Blood soundtrack in game.ins

3. Just move the blood*.ogg files out of your installation directory

I don't have the cd tracks playing anyway but as stated before, I don't want the midi playing (i.e general midi etc). I just want the old style of music playing like adlib (not proper keyboard sounds/instruments).

I can see certain options that refer to it, but because this is a version of blood with the plasma pack etc, there seems to be quite a few references to 'adlib' but when I change a few options nothing seems to change. So, I am assuming I am not changing the correct ones. If it was just the regular version of blood then maybe it would of been easier. I went into the dosbox folder and there is nothing changable there either... no config file etc. I use dosbox for other games/software and it's quite easy to change things like music but the basic GoG version doesn't seem to have those user-editable files.

Thanks for the reply anyway!

Sorry, I should have read closer. People ask how to disable CD tracks most often.

To change to Adlib, you will want to tinker with a few other things in your dosboxBlood.conf file and with Blood's own BLOOD.CFG file.

Most likely the oplmode= settings and a few things in [Sound Setup] section.

I'll get that sorted out and then edit this reply later.

Later: Well, it seems that the easiest thing to do is to run Blood's configuration tool, setup.exe. You can do that by running the Settings link in the One Unit Whole Blood [GOG.com] Stat Menu folder, and then dive down into Sound Setup>Choose Music Card>Adlib. I don't think the oplmode setting I mentioned earlier is necessary, the resulting audio seems to be the same.

Now I'm not sure that's the best option or the one you are looking for as it seems Blood will only play a portion of it's midi files, that or it's to faint for me to hear. You might play with it further and see what results you get. To be safe, just backup your current dosboxBlood*.conf files and your BLOOD.CFG file before tinkering to much.
