The double-barreled shotgun in-game is a Rossi Overland in 12 gauge
The artist the made the models for the sprites is Keith Kilstorm
And the sub-machine gun in-game is a Colt M1921A(So blood is somewhere near the mid 1920's)

But the first Zippo lighter was produced in year 1933. Also, Caleb is said to have spent a hundred years in his grave. Some descriptions of the game state that the game is set in a "near future apocalyptic world".

He went into the future!

One should not really try to analyze Blood, while it might sound a bad thing to say, it is just a sum of countless elements, which in their entirety will not always make sense. Be they good or bad, Blood used them to its advantage to create the insurmountable experience it is.
