At the end of the Overlooked Hotel, I collected all five tomes, entered the teleporter, ended the level.

It said I was going to the secret level... ok... normal.

---

E1M8 House of Horrors... wait a minute!? I beat this level already! *checks weapons* ok... still have all of my E2 weapons... *reloads game* still house of horrors...

Went through the level blowing things up with remote and proximity dynamite, throwing spraycans, using voodoo dolls like I'm really not supposed to be able to do on this level, finish it... E1M5!? WTF!?!?

BTW, Proximity Dynamite is useful as it automatically goes off if it lands near feet of enemies or if I activate a bunch of enemies but leave the room, I can chuck one in there and laugh when I hear the *beep* *clack* *BOOM*. I noticed a lot of people hate on them, but this is the first game I've found that kind of stuff useful (Sorry Goldeneye, only MP your bombs were useful).

So if I continue playing the game after this glitch occurs, it behaves awfully erratic. Unfortunately I do not know if I am able to reproduce this glitch. But yes, it happened, I ruined a save, and I have to repeat from E2M1 or use cheat codes to warp. I feel so bad for the Blood series as both games were ridden with glitches and Blood 1 underwent a LOT of changes that took features out, cut stuff from game, or broke stuff so we never saw it. Blood II was so bad in that respect I hated it but it was released unfinished so I forgive Monolith. Blood 1 is amazing, and F.E.A.R. + NOLF1 were both amazing as well. It seems like they can start a franchise but can't finish it. Anyone else run into this issue though with the secret levels?
I don't think I've heard of that particular glitch. Perhaps it read your Blood.ini file wrong?

What content do you think was removed from Blood1? The biggest changes for Blood between 1.0 and 1.21, beyond adding new levels and enemies, were the weapon mechanics for the Tesla Cannon and the Life Leech (and probably others I've forgotten about now). Unless you are counting something that was in the Alpha...

As far a major bugs, I can only think of 3.
1. Damage values resetting to Lightly Broiled if you had initially started the game on Well Done or Extra Crispy between saving and loading a game.
2. The echo crash bug that is only a thing when playing Blood in DOS or Windows 95-98 with a PCI sound card that the game can talk to directly. (not a problem in DOSBox or other emulated environments)
3. The load error when loading cryptic passage via the cryptic.exe on computers faster than 200 MHz.

2 & 3 have fixes. I am not aware of a fix for the first one unless the hexedit guys have perfected the thing they were working on.

The fix for 1 is actually available on the same page you entered this thread from. Unfortunately not a sticky.. :(

Here is the link to the thread. It really should get more attention because it actually works.

EDIT:
Not exactly a fix, more like a workaround where you hard freeze the damage scaling value.

Oh, thank you. I must have missed it when SFJake posted that. I was only able to find the original thread where he had retracted his initial patch. https://www.gog.com/forum/blood_series/glitch_damage_scaling_changes_when_loading_fix_inside

I have been playing the game since and have yet to have been able to reproduce this glitch *at all* so I am just going to crop it up to build engine jank. I know on overlooked hotel sometimes I have to collect the tomes, sometimes I don't. I actually remember a time I played through that level and ended up with the secret teleporter open that I assumed it was the normal end of the level on my first play through! When the House of Horrors glitch happened, I have *no* idea what could have triggered it or what conditions I must have met to allow that. But like I said. I will chop it down to build engine jank.
