Not a pressing question, but I am very interested in knowing: Why is Blood not available for download on the Mac? Both Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior can both be downloaded for the Mac and they have essentially the same engine that Blood does.

I think it may be because Duke and SW got an official Mac port back in 97, Blood didn't. With some luck GOG will make it work in Mac systems in the near future (GOG has only recently started supporting Mac systems).

I think it is due to DOSBox not running Blood as good as other games even under Windows. So I guess that under Mac it runs even worse, to the point that GoG cannot release it without extensive tweaking.

But this is only conjecture.

This probably raises the question: Has GoG ported any of it's inventory to the Mac, that hasn't already been ported some time in the past? GoG still has to take point on what the IP owner wants (goodbye Fallout)

It wouldn't be much of an technical issue to repackage DOSBox + Blood for the Mac, or even a Linux box. Certainly not enough of an issue to outweigh the potential sales they would get.

Blood never got a Mac port?! Wow, I never knew that.

Hopefully GOG will port Blood, Duke and SW are awesome to play on the Mac and it would be nice to get the last of the big Source engine games.

Not to mention Redneck Rampage; which has an Mac port. :)

There are other games which never had a Mac port available here for OS X, like the Divinity series. It also runs just fine in Boxer (DOSBox variant for Mac), so performance isn't an issue either; if it's good enough for Windows it's good enough for Mac as well.

I think the most likely explanation is rights: Blood has a different publisher and developer than Duke 3D ans Shadow Warrior. GOG always have to get permission first before being allowed to sell a game for another OS or in another language.

I would certainly be excited when the chance arises.
