Just bought and downloaded both Blood games, and I'm wondering if there's any Blood 1 Source Ports out there. Could I use EDuke32 with this?
Sadly, no. The source code was never released. There are a couple people trying to hack together a source port, but the only one I can think of that looks like it might, might, be done soon in BloodXL in the XL Engine.
Ah gotta deal with DOSBox then. No biggie. Just played a level or two after setting up the controls and I'm having a blast!

Thanks for the very quick response. :)
You might want to grab bMouse too.
They probably lost the source code

No, they have it... or at least Matt Saettler has it. As far as I can tell, they just don't want to take the time to break apart the proprietary Blur codec they licensed for the cut-scenes, from the rest of the Build stuff.

I wonder if GoG would be willing to try and talk Atari into releasing the source code if X units of Blood were sold.

The XL Engine looks promising as it is still alive. The next version puts it into beta and promises a fully playable Dark Forces and the ability to play Blood and Outlaws. So, once these games are in they are then sure to get further work done for them.

Shame, Transfusion never made it to at least one playable SP episode. That Quake mod had more blood than Blood, it stayed on the walls, covered absolutely everything. Ahh..

Thats a shame if true. Blood is so much fun to play but the restrictions (unable to run it perfectly) in Win98 or Dos-box can be annoying. Some day I hope the source code will surface.

Edit: The XL engine looks very promising indeed. Only downside (or perhaps not) is that it cannot emulate 100% the way Blood "plays". Bookmarked that blog to see progress.

Lucius mentioned some days ago things about XLEngine and Blood in particular: http://xlengine.com/?p=318
