Since this will be running through DOSbox, what's the best way to get some multiplayer games going? Would an IPX emulator and/or something like Hamachi work? A few years ago, I saw that Dukonnector supported Blood multiplayer via DOSbox, but that program gives me some severe nightmares after trying to set up some Duke3D games with it.
I've played the hell out of this game's singleplayer episodes, but I never had the chance to do multiplayer with it. I don't know about you guys, but deathmatch with dynamite and voodoo dolls sounds like a grand ol' time to me.
I'm new to this forum, so I'm not entirely sure if I should mark this "Question / Problem"... I don't mind if it goes off topic, so I'll leave it unmarked.
VPN software like Hamachi and Tunngle work for multiplayer, though in my experience seems rather rare to find people playing on there without scheduling a deathmatch.
There is another alternative similar to the Dukonnector client called YANG (Yet Another Network Guider) that has a few people playing on a daily / every other day basis.
http://www.multi-players-zone.com/yang/ it's fairly easy to setup.
If the link gets removed, Google "YANG yet another network guider"
Thanks for the link! I'll be giving YANG a test run a little later today.
Finding people to play with won't be much of a problem. I'm part of the Shacknews community, and we've been wanting to get a Blood game organized for some time. The GOG release provides for the perfect opportunity to get some full matches going. Do you GOG guys set up many classic-game multiplayer matches?
I just found out about this site today after checking another forum.
Since coming across YANG in late December '09 I've been playing again after a 10 year hiatus. Back then there was a lot going on with TEN, Kali, and Mplayer involving Blood.
Well this was a really cool multiplayer (and singleplayer !) game back then, on LAN and modem. I hope people still will be able to enjoy it.
Presuming the people won't throw a fit over the lower resolution graphics and actually enjoy the fast paced game play that we had in the early - late 90s, I think there will be a great deal of enjoyment to relive this classic. :)
Im pretty new to dosBox, so please bare with me. Can you play Blood in multiplayer LAN with just the basic GOG/dosbox install or do I need to use yang, hamachi or some other program aswell ?

I've played Blood 1 multiplayer tons of times. I'm using D-Fend Reloaded. It's a visual interface over DosBox and it let's you start it and games extremely easily. In the options you can create a "server" and other people just need to set your IP in the settings to be on the same "lan" as you are. After this, you just start Blood and you can connect easily. The thing is, I've been doing this with a copy of Blood that I bought when it was released, so I'm not sure it works with the GOG version, but it probably does. You'll need to copy the whole blood folder into the D-Fend virtual HD.

Edit:
I take it back. I don't think this will let you play through the internet if someone in your group has a firewall.
Game works fine with the Multiplayer option when you install it from GOG though.
You'll need to be on the same lan, or use Hamachi to make a virtual lan.
