there's no option that i can see for exiting the game. I had to alt tab out. Is there something I'm missing?

Press Escape while being in-game to pause the game. Then press the Quit button to close the game. On the main menu hit Escape and then the Yes button to close the game.

In prologue introduction section you cannot open main menu, but exit the game dialog still can be accessible from [Esc].
