Probably the first in a long, long line of Doom clones, its gameplay was still fluid and innovative, but not as fast paced or exciting as Doom. T hat said it had elements that wouldn't be seen elsewhere for half a decade and is still a blast to play through

This game actually came out before doom. While id updated the rendering of its levels Jam and apogee added new game play elements. you had actors you had to not shoot but intergate for info you also had one that played dead then sprung back up later. it also added a non hitscan gun to the wolf 3d engine unfortunately they did not recode the game to handle more than one kind of ammo. but that does not detract from the game play.
Was just gonna say that, since theres no hint of doomage in blake stone, wold3d more like it
