Where can I find the snake vendor (Abdul Ben-Hassan)? I'm stuck, and I think I need to talk to him to continue....

Is his shop the one to the right of the dragonfly stand? If not, where is it?
If that is his shop, how can I get him to show up?

It is not the shop right to the dragonfly stand. Go left under the 第 sign and you will enter the indoor market area. There are a few shops, food stands and a bar in the area. Among them there is the Abdul guy, he looks just like in the movie.

Sometimes the enter-able area is not very clear in this game, be patient with mousing around and notice the mouse arrow changing to the "enter" mode.

Hassan is indeed at the right of the Dragonfly stand, but he will not be there after Act 2 (except if you're playing the Restored Content version).
He is also not necessary to advance the plot.
You guys couldn't contradict each other more!

PraetorianWolfie, it seems to me that you are correct, but just to confirm with you and nukecoke:

In the indoor market area, the only stalls / people I can find are:

- Izo (the guy you eventually chase inside and down into the basement) and his stall
- the China Bar with its bartender, where all I could ever do was to have a drink
- Kingston, with its Jamaican cook / owner

None of them remind me of Abdul Ben-Hassan.

I'm playing the version I got by installing from GOG, which I think is not the Restored Content one.

The first time I went to Animoid Row, there was a guy in front of the stand to the right of the dragonfly stand. I think I talked to him once, without learning anything, and then he walked away.

You're correct on all the above.

Hassan is not very important to the story, but in Restored Content mode he does provide closure to a side plot (which is sort of left open in the vanilla mode -- and is basically a reference to the movie). One could argue that talking to Hassan can potentially lead to negative complications to your friendship status with Bullet Bob (...). But that complication, albeit interesting, also does not come into much play in the vanilla mode.
