Update: This seemed to be an short-term problem and is resolved on my end. Though some other User do have this problem. I did restart my game and verified the content. Though also want to upgrade the ScummVM Engine.
++++

Totally love that GOG was able to bring this Gem back to live!

So fired the game up and I noticed the Videos have out of sync Audio/Dialogues.

Any one else have this problem?

Maybe a ScummVM issue?

Thanks again, would love to read more about how the game was "ported" or reworked.
Must have been one crazy job with this kind of engine?

Cheers

Same issue here, becomes apparent in the intro when Clovis starts talking.
I think it might just be an issue with the ScummVM support in general. I'm playing from my original discs and it also has out of sync audio in the cutscenes. It seems to be okay during gameplay when talking to NPCs

I know they've been working on this for years (the ScummVM team, or at least I assume that's who it was). Apparently they had to reverse engineering most of the game as the original source is lost. But I agree that it would be interesting to read more about what they had to go through to get this working. As far as I can see they did an amazing job with this

Hi, out4space.

Like MaSeKind, I have the original discs, and played the game recently on Windows 98, installing it directly from the discs and without the use of ScummVM.

Unfortunately, my experience has been that there were always some video/audio sync issues with Blade Runner. I am fairly sensitive to this problem in games and movies, and it seems only slightly more out of sync in the ScummVM version vs. the original on Win98.

Hopefully, this will be improved over time with subsequent updates.

Thanks for the replies.

@zakmckracken: yeah likewise, I also don't enjoy un-synced stuff
@MaSeKind: Thanks for the info!

I had the game from a neighbor once, but that was long time ago, so I don't recall about syncing issues.

I did dig this Intro video up on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84crgjplPk8

Seems to be better synced.

As suggested probably a thing with ScummVM.
These are my System specs and I use a 144Hz Display (which might also be a source of error):
i5-4670k (no OC)
32GB RAM
GTX970
W10-Pro x64
All latest build/drivers (graphics/chipset etc.).

Maybe one of the porting devs is glancing through here...

I'm one of ScummVM developers who worked on restoring Blade Runner.

I'm very sorry, but I don't recall seeing any audio/video out-of-sync issues. We did some extensive testing on various platforms and machines and tried to optimize code as much as possible, but we didn't have desyncing issues.
But the game lip-syncing is not great so might feel odd, but that how it was made and it's hard to change.

Please, can you write on what platform did you run into these issues and rough description of your machine? Ideally report a new bug on https://bugs.scummvm.org/ Also, when you are watching a video and experience this, there is a console in background (alt+tab), please check if there is something unusual (seeing "WARNING: numQueuedStreams: 0!" is expected).

Thanks! We don't have summary what we went through, but it was fun:) If you have questions you can use our ScummVM discord or forums and ask right away.

Thank you and everyone else involved in letting us play this amazing game again.
Out of sync in that the lips start moving before / after the audio starts, or just the lip movements not seeming to correlate with the words being spoken? If the latter, then that might just be because it's an old game and they couldn't do it properly. Not sure though.

It's the first, lips move but sound is delayed.
Though the video I linked earlier has it synced.

Will try to test later again.

Are there settings for the ScummVM, like Dosbox has cycles to increase/decrease for speed?
Just a heads up for this issue and a better example!

In the GOG intro video in the product page, you can clearly see the issue around the 3:37 mark. Compare it with the other video that out4space posted earlier, around the 3:20 mark You can clearly see the difference in timing with the shots being fired and the muzzle flash.

It might only be a... i don't know, half a second in difference, but it it enough to notice it.

Other then that, i haven't bumped into any issues.

Hi, there.
In your experience, the desynch is always the sound being a bit late or has it been the other way around to?

We'll try to look into the issue, although I can't really reproduce it as of yet on my PCs.

Could you try one of the standalone daily development ScummVM builds (v2.2.0git) for your platform to see if your issue is fixed?

Launching that and after adding your Blade Runner directory, select the game and press the "Edit Game" button.
Some extra options you could try there would be:
- From the "Engine" tab enable the last option:"Max frames per second limit" if it's disabled.
- From the "Engine" tab enable the "frame limiter high performance mode", although I doubt that would make any difference and it will almost definitely increase CPU load.
- From the "Graphics" tab, choose "Override Global Graphics" settings and try the available options (eg "OpenGL" or "2x" to see if it makes any difference)

Another thing I can think of, would be:
- If you have the game installed on an external USB disc, try to install it on an internal HDD instead.

Thank you for the input.
I will try to update the scumm engine, with a new build than and see how this works out.

EDIT: Fired the game up again and Audio/Video was now synced. Maybe a one-time occurance. I will still go and try to update ScummVM though. Thanks!

Do mark the thread with a "solved" checkmark then, so people aren't left to wonder if it's just a shitty release. I held off buying it, because I saw this post on release day, and I know others did too.
Chapter 2 - no audio/video out-of-sync issue so far.

Hello Jinxtah,

how do I do that? I do not find a checkmark or anything related to change the title status.

Thanks.
