And why?

I could complete it with both the knight and the barbarian, but the barbarian was much harder for me. The timed block was always liable to get me splattered. So I loved the knight for his flexibility and absolutely brutal special moves.
Most favourite - Barbarian. Hardest to learn, more challenging to play. Has more special moves, than others.
My fav was the Dwarf, since you don't need combos to do good with him. Just sweep left and right attack and chop stuff up, dwarf also got some pretty OP weapons later in the game like the Ice hammer. The supper attack on that was poking the enemy with it and making them get a heart attack or something insta kill every time. My friend that was stuck playing the barbarian was so jealous... lol.

I Killed the end boss with the Light Edge (neutral weapon) I got in level 2, using my patented "dwarf-fu" fighting style.

I absolutely loved the amazon. Her dodging and rolling were so slick I rarely took any damage at all (after spending the requisite two to three hours in first level frustration hell, that is). Also, her spear-like weapons offered so much reach that getting the first hit in was usually easy. I just hated the vampire boss in the keep-on-the-lake level, and the ghouls in general: Zoe was so fragile I ran into serious problems whenever I did take damage.
I have not finished the game yet , and its the first time that ive ever played it , i picked the barbarian because smashing enemies with a two handed sword sound fun :) at first i had lots of problems but now i am much better at fighting , the amazon girl sounds fun for my next play through :)
The Knight is probably my favorite although I've beat the game many times with all the characters except the amazon. I was about to fight the Necromancer and my save game got corrupted, d'oh!

I guess I liked the knight because of his many combos and decent defense and still had a strong attack. I had more time to think about my moves with enemies than the Barabarian but he's definitely my second favorite.
Finally ended the game a few days ago and i have to say the barbarian was awosome :) , i started after with the amazon and did 4-5 stages but there was something about her i did not like so much , maibe she was just to quick or i did not understand the combat stile for her , ive started with the dwarve yesterday and allthough he is hard as hell because he cant barelly jump xD i am having a great time now with him ( and reloading a lot wile at it haha ) .

Babarian, its alot harder since you have to avoid the enemies sword swings instead of just blocking it.
Babarian also has most weapons and most moves.

First time i played it, was with dwarf. Lorewise, i love dwarves. Friendly and hospitable little fellas, love food, ale, home, chopping goblin heads with battleaxes and stomping orcs flat with warhammers. Plus, his green clothing and horns on helm (medium armor) reminded me of the dwarf from Golden Axe!

Then the knight. The knight is my favourite up to date. Full plate mail, lots of combos (more than all other players), easy to handle weapons, easy special moves without complicated parts, best character for using shields, quick drinker of potions, decent reflexes (climbing etc), decent jumping distance, good dexterity. Plus the ending suits him perfectly; left everything he carried (artifacts, weapons, armor) at iana's temple and simply left. The amazon would empty the temple off of its valuables, the dwarf would carry all his hard-earned stuff home, and the barbarian would simply turn the temple into home. Yes, all of them leave everything there and go on their way, but this type of sacrifice fits only with the knight and his ethos, i like to think. Plus as dal gurak said, upon defeat; "iana annointed you paladin". Only a knight can become a paladin, lorewise, or with contrast to other games and their lore.
