First the problem was just a black screen with background noise, and I browsed through this forum looking for the solution. I downloaded the CCCP program that seems to come recommended, only that made it worse. Now the game is explicitly crashing and telling me MEM_RESIZE_FAILED, and then telling me about a runtime error before closing.

What's going on? How can I play my new game I brought? :(

It is a common issue (I had it too), and even if I don't fully understand it, I found a solution.
I already explained this quick and simple fix in this thread, so I hope you don't mint I don't write it all over :P
