Hi everyone,

I started playing Blackwell Legacy with a friend on his PC. He uses Linux and owns the steam version of Blackwell Legacy. I own the GOG version (not sure if this is important).
I've installed my game (from GOG) now on my PC (also Linux) and we plan to visit each other and copy the savegame frome one PC to another. So we can continue the game at my or at his house.
We started to play the game on his PC.
Now I've copied his save games to my folder (at .local/share/Blackwell Legacy v1.7)
The game still starts without problems, but exits without an error message as soon as I try to load one of the copied savegames.

I started the game from a terminal. The last output lines are below. Can anyone help me with this issue? Also I'm not sure what the "prog.bwl" does - it contains only 8 characters, either "0" or "1". Should I leave it unchanged or copy it?

Output:

AGS: Prepare to start game
AGS: Checking replay status
AGS: Engine initialization complete
AGS: Starting game
AGS: Loading room 35
AGS: Room change requested to room 22
AGS: Unloading room 35
AGS: Loading room 22
AGS: Unloading room 22
An error has occurred. Please contact the game author for support, as
this is likely to be a scripting error and not a bug in AGS.
(ACI version 3.3.0.1132)

Error: Restore_game: Global script changed, cannot restore game
AGS: ***** ENGINE HAS SHUTDOWN

I see that your post if from August 2016
However, I have the same issue in March 2017
Did you manage to find a way to load saved games?
I can't even load saves done on my computer.

Hi,
I posted my question in the WadjetEye forum as well and got an answer from the developer:
Sadly I am not allowed to post links, but I can copy you his answer:
If I understand correctly, you are trying to transfer savefiles between two different versions of the game? Sadly, this isn't possible. It is a limitation of the AGS engine in that when you compile a new version of the game it breaks saves. Since the Steam and GOG versions are different versions of the game (e.g., The GOG version was compiled with the steamworks functions disabled) , transferring savefiles between them won't work. I am sorry about that.
So you can't copy savegames from different game versions (steam or GOG).
I don't know if there is a way if the game version is the same.
