When I talk to the reporter late in the game for the first time, I can't leave the conversation! The choice for finishing talking disappears and I can't get it to come back! Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I also had a bug where a certain conversation topic was removed, then accidentally added by triggering a letter, and then I couldn't get rid of it. Very very minor as it had no effect on gameplay, but there it is.
