I'm having problems with this game after selecting new game, I get past the movie and I can hear some man talking, there's music, but I get nothing on the screen. I waited for 5 min before ending task on the game. I tried putting it into compatibility mode winxp sp3, using that nogui fix it suggested on the support page for the game. Still nothing shows up on the screen.

I'm running
Win7 64-bit
AMD Sapphire HD 7850 oc 2gb
8gb ram

Just do not install the game into "Program files (x86)" folder. Make folder under "Program files" and install the game inthere. It worked for me...

I had the same issue actually a while back but gave it another go.

What helped was that enabling subtitles in the options showed that something was actualyl going on whilst the black screen was being shown. And presto... once those lines had come and gone, the scene appeared.

At the time, I thought it was something to do with the resolution (as I'd switched to 720p whilst trying different things). I can confirm it works just the same in 1080p.

I can also confirm that clicking through the lines "in the darkness" doesn't make the scene appear any faster - it just looks like it's frozen again, but in fact the scene will still appear after the same amount of time.

Hope that helps. Be patient basically (and enable subtitles in case similar scenes happen again) :)

On to finally play the game! :)

By the way, mine is installed under "c:\gog games" so maybe that's helped too as pointed out my Limoze
