There's that message appearing in resolution settings that tells you the game works best in 1280 width.

That same message was there in BM 2, only was it there possible to set the game to 720p in 16:9, meaning 1280x720.

In BM 3, there's no such resolution, which I find pretty awkward, since that's the newer game.

Plus they didn't fix the issue which probably made them suggest 720p resolution in the first place: texts are somewhat hard to read in FullHD, unless you sit right in front of your screen (which in PnCA I never do).

So in short: is there a way to set the game's resolution to 1280x720?

I already checked a file named config in the game folder and fiddled around a bit, but it did nothing apparent.

Thanks!
The game has a fixed aspect ratio of 16:10 for the game viewport.
With any other resolution you get black bars above & below or right & left.

The ingame resolution slider doesn't let you choose 1280x720. That's right.

But you can set this resolution in the config file. You simply edited the wrong one.
The one in the game folder gets copied to the Black Mirror III configuration and savegame folder if no config file exists in that folder (normally just when you start the game for the first time - it just defines the default values for the first start).

The config file you have to edit is the file "config.xml" in the subfolder "BlackMirrorIII" of your Documents folder (complete folder path is something like "C:\Users\<YourWindowsUsername>\Documents\BlackMirrorIII").

If you set 1280x720 in the config file you get black bars on the left & right side (as explained above) and in the game the resolution slider shows 1024x768 since this is the left most position and the resolution 720 is lower than 768 (resolutions are listed by height and only within the same height by width). But the real resolution is 1280x720 as set in the config file. You can verify that with a screenshot tool or -if the display supports it- with an info provided by the display.
I decided that it's possible getting used to 1080p resolution and finished the game a couple of weeks ago.

Your guide may help other people having this problem though. Thanks!
