f*cking destroyed my wrist :). Seemed like he took FOREVER to die and keeping up with that attack pattern of his was a royal beast, especially when he reversed the control scheme. I just beat the game a few nights ago and my wrist was sore for a couple hours after. Maybe I was just getting really into it and I was gripping my mouse to hard or something. On a side note, at least he wasn't a complete retarded wimp like some final bosses I can think of.
I wasn't a fan of the last boss, hitting the top bit was a pain in the ass. After finaly beating the boss the ending was highly annoying as well. It would have been nice to have a bit of closure on everything rather then the ending we got. The rest of the game was greath though, I can't think of another part except the last boss that I didn't enjoy.
Yes that's true that last boss was a bit annoying. But that's what last bosses are for;)
For me it's one of the best games on GOG and I'm proud to have it in my collection!

Hitting him when when he was above you was the part that pissed me off too, but I agree with both of you, it was a wonderful, excellent game and I'm very satisfied at the $10 that I paid for it. It was an excellent experience and I'm most looking forward to the second game, if there ever gets to be one.

It's actually not necessary to hit him when he's above you; you can simply perform a quick dodge.
Well yeah, but the only way to hit him when he was above you was with the super attack, which does alot more damage than the regular attacks, so taking away the damage done each time the super attack connected would mean he would take even longer to die and my wrist would have wound up even more destroyed, lol

I may be completely wrong, but based on my final boss battle, I believe:
[BOSS BATTLE SPOILERS!]
(1) The game is designed to make you quick-dodge when the boss appears overhead. While you can technically pull off a supercharge or use the gun, it's only barely possible, while doing a quick-dodge gives you a lot of time to attack him correctly.
(2) The boss has no health bar - during this sequence, what matters is how many times in a row you can hit it. If the boss hits you, the sequence starts again.
Combining (1) and (2) above: trying to pull off the supercharges or using the wristgun is a bad idea. It will usually result in the occasional mistake, meaning that you get hit, and undoing all of the progress you made during that part of the battle.
I had to chow down a few k-bups before I figured out the pattern, but once you do, it's actually a much easier battle than most people think it is.
EDIT: For anyone still having trouble, I seem to recall reading another tip somewhere else. This tip suggested that the boss has a fixed attack pattern that you can memorize (e.g. in front, behind, left, right, above, etc.). I never noticed it during my boss battle, so I can't confirm whether it's true.

Yes there is a pattern. After 3 hours of trying to beat him I can confirm there is a very definite pattern. I hated the last boss fight one of the most frustrating ordeals ever. The rest of the game rocked though. Very worth the money. What is this quick dodge and how does it work (button to push)??

I managed to do it with the special attacks as they are the only ones that hit above yourself. I tried dodging but it seemed to work less well then just timing the super attack perfectly and hitting him.
As for a pattern, yes he does follow a set routine for his attacks(I spent a long, long time on this guy). Then at a certain points its the same set just with reversed controls.

I can't be 100% sure as I used a gamepad, but I mean the normal "dodge" button - I think it might even be mapped to the right mouse button. In the final battle, when the boss was overhead, one dodge in any direction gave me a few seconds to get my bearings.
I barely used that button for the rest of the game - usually it's easier to hit a melee enemy than to dodge it.

I haven't but I did purchase Psychonauts a while back just haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Guess I have something to look forward too now. :P
I am severely pissed off in this game, so many bugs and issues, so many difficult problems, that at the very last boss that I have defected him, then I get a white screen, i've alt-tab out after hearing repeated noise, and find an error that say "no more memory",,, cause the game to crash... I now hate this game, and I wish this game was removed as a Good old game, because this is not a good old game. It's a buggy piece of shit compare to that god awful mmo called APB. I'd have so many issues with this game, from tearing (found that fix from here), cheating AI, and many other things, and this toped it off after I just beaten the last boss and I got that error. I'm uninstalling this game... This game is dead to me.

WOW! The game is actually pretty good so stop haten it man and try telling GOG about the problem.
the end boss was annoying. it wasn't difficult so much as frustrating trying to use the horrible controls in order to shoot something. when the boss kept moving around in that pattern i had a hell of a time hitting him when he was directly overhead. i knew it was coming, the patterns were very easy to remember, it was just extremely difficult to aim using the controls. i'm no stranger to fpsers either.

normally at the very end of games when they throw that twist in it re-orients your perspective of things to come. at the end of the credits they throw a twist in which for some reason had no affect on me. i just didn't care at that point. the plot was predictable and boring and the twist at the end was just lame and unoriginal.

after all this bashing, it's necessary to point out how unique the atmosphere was and how versatile the game play could be. stealth, action, racing, evasion, and flight combat were all well done. if the camera were easier to control the game play would have been much better.
Eff that guy and the general's tractor beam. :P I'm just going to pretend that Jade saved the day, went back to being a cute greenish girl taking care of kids in the lighthouse, and she and Double H fell in love, her being the free-spirit and he being the down-to-earth educated honorable guy. And Pey'j kept being crusty but loveable.
