Hi,
So I installed BG&E and then I configured my options from the SettingsApplication executable before the game launches. I then launched the game and the main menu works fine, but as soon as I start a new game the introduction scene plays VERY fast, BUT the dialog plays at a normal speed, so for example at the beginning of the introduction we can see the news reporter talking, right? Ok, but the scene plays SO fast that by the time we see the main character sitting on the hill with the sun on the horizon the news reporter is still talking in the background, so in other words the dialog is out of sync with the video, and the video is the one part that plays too fast, so the audio cannot catch up to it.
I'm sorry if I repeat myself above but English is not my native language so I want to make sure it's as clear as possible. Alright, so with that said, my system specifications are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ Stock speed
Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 @ Manufacturer's default BIOS settings
OCZ Reaper HPC PC2-6400 4GB (2 x 2GB) @ Stock speed and timings
eVGA GTX 285 1GB @ Stock speed
SB X-Fi XtremeMusic
Running on Windows Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 2 installed, plus all other important updates from Microsoft.com. I have tried to change some of the graphics driver settings via the NVIDIA's control panel, such as V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing (activating and disabling it), Anisotropic-Filtering, Threaded Optimization, etc, but nothing fixes the problem. By the way my drivers for my chipset (Intel X38), sound card and video card are all final WHQL-certified and latest released versions from the official manufacturer's web-site.
I also tried to change the CPU Affinity of the BG&E's executable after I launch it, but surprisingly enough it was already set at only using one CPU core and not both, so I left it that way, but it doesn't change anything. Then I finally tried to un-check some of the manual compatibility options of the SettingsApplication options such as Hardware Vertex and things like that, but nothing fixed the problem so far. The last thing I have tried was to run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode, but again no go.
I would appreciate some help in fixing the problem please.
Thanks!
I used to have a similar problem with all of my games running on winxp 64-bit. I found that if I shut my system down completely (not restart) and started it back up, all games would run at normal speed again. I know it sounds weird but it worked. Eventually, I got fed up with it and went back to 32-bit xp. Now everything works fine. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your help and suggestion, but unfortunately I tried that and it didn't worked.
I still haven't played the game so far since the scenes are directly linked with game-play and due to the sync issue I can't understand the story and what's going on. If the scenes in question were completely separate from the game-play, even if it's just at the beginning, I would just skip them since they don't work and would directly go to the game-play, but the game works in such a way that skipping scenes suddenly "stops" at a point where you have to take control of the character and immediately start playing, I'm not sure how to describe it, but briefly said the game is basically unplayable.
You could use this:

but make sure you read the page before using it, in particular "Running this program in the "Processing" state for any length of time puts your computer under more stress than usual. You have been warned."
Its basically going to max out your cpu to 100% for the entire time your playing your game. So use this at your own risk, if you don't like the look of this option then I would advise contacting gog support and asking them for help.
The game cant deal with changing CPU-Frequencies, you`d need to disable automatic CPU throttling in the Windows System settings. Should be called Powerscheme, energy settings or something like that (not on Vista and non-english Windows here). Use the scheme which disables all power-saving measures before playing the game.
Disable Intel SpeedStep (also known as Thermal Management 2).
For me it worked by forcing the game in 60hz
