Hello everyone

I bought this game a long time ago during a sale but I just decided today to give it a try.

However, I immediately encountered an especially annoying problem. Sometimes during the game, the controls stop responding and the character keeps going in a direction and remains stuck, even if I press another key. Sometimes again, the mouse ceases to work and I can't control the direction in which I look. The only solution that I found is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to go to the desktop, then go back to the game, but that's not a really agreable way to enjoy this game that seems wonderful.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Strange behavior: I am not sure, but it might be related to a multicore processor.
We need more information about your PC and OS, but if you have a multicore processor, you could try to run the game using a single core.
You can set the processor affinity via Windows Task Manager and, in case this is the right solution to your problems, you can make it permanent creating a shortcut for the game executable (read this guide).
Thank you very much. I've looked into this CPU question, and I discovered that for a strange reason, when I look at the affinity of the program when I play the game, it is already set to just one processor. It's suprising because as I said I never played this game before a few days ago and never did any modification.

So contrary to what has been said in other tutorials, I switched the processor affinity to use all the cores and now the problem is solved. However, I am unable to apply the methods which allows to set the affinity without having to open the task manager, it always uses one core by default.

I tried the solution of the shortcut to BGE.exe but a window opens saying "Unable to open file (sally_clean.bf)". I think that it is due to the fact that when you install the game, the shortcut that is created doesn't point to the file "BGE.exe" but to the file "CheckApplication.exe". It may explain why opening directly the file "BGE.exe" doesn't work. Do you have any idea about how I could solve this problem?

My configuration:
- Windows 7 64 bits Premium family edition
- HP ProBook 4535s with processor AMD A6-3400M APU (quad-core)

I've just made some research. The executable "CheckApplication.exe" is a wrapper and I suppose that its purpose is setting the game's affinity to a single core for maximum compatibility: that's why you "BGE.exe" affinity is set to one single core, and keeps resetting to this default even if you change it.

Now, I'd suggest you to run the game directly from "BGE.exe", but since this doesn't work as well, I think you could try changing the configuration. Start "SettingsApplication.exe" and click on the "Advanced Settings" tab, then try this configuration, which is said to be the most compatible on modern systems. Try different settings, if it doesn't work.
I've tried different settings but in the end bugs always come back. The only solution that has shown that it is efficient is to open the task manager during the game and to change the affinity to use all the cores. ANyway, thank you for your help. :)
